Take on Life

Take on Life website selling inspiring products.I started Take on Life in September 2008. Progress has been slow due to the current state of the economy, and the fact that I’m learning a great deal of things for the first time. I continue to work hard and hope this company defines my life.

Take on Life had an interesting beginning. It started with not such a good idea while visiting a friend in Delaware the August before. To my surprise, after feedback and much thinking, it evolved into something grand with much more meaning.

Take on Life’s mission is to make a positive difference in people’s lives by empowering and allowing individuals to express their dreams and ambitions through its products.

I created it using Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator. The website is powered by Symphony with a custom PayPal extension that I created for this project.

Visit Take on Life and make a purchase to support this and my other projects.

Team Eagle

Originally created for my 2008 Paralympic Sailing Campaign, Team Eagle, is a disabled sailing team whose goal is to compete in Paralympic Games. I created a brand, website, and marketing plan to raise money to cover the enormous costs incurred by a campaign.

Partial screen capture of Team Eagle website. The American bald eagle first appeared as an American symbol engraved on a Massachusetts 1776 copper penny. Worldwide, the eagle is symbolic of freedom, courage, and strength. The Chinese culture also regards the eagle as a symbol of strength. Its strong symbolism in America also allows the name to be used beyond the campaign for the 2008 Paralympics in Beijing. For these reasons, the name ‘Team Eagle’ was chosen.

The site was built around the Symphony CMS. The project resulted in the creation of a couple extensions, including Flickr Fetch which I made available for download. I used Adobe Photoshop to create the website layout and Adobe Dreamweaver for coding any necessary PHP extensions and XSLT.

My limited experience in print design led me to outsource some of the print marketing material. However, I did design the business cards and used an online printer. I used Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Indesign for this work.

In addition to marketing and managing the team, I am also the skipper of Team Eagle.
