Originally created for my 2008 Paralympic Sailing Campaign, Team Eagle, is a disabled sailing team whose goal is to compete in Paralympic Games. I created a brand, website, and marketing plan to raise money to cover the enormous costs incurred by a campaign.
The American bald eagle first appeared as an American symbol engraved on a Massachusetts 1776 copper penny. Worldwide, the eagle is symbolic of freedom, courage, and strength. The Chinese culture also regards the eagle as a symbol of strength. Its strong symbolism in America also allows the name to be used beyond the campaign for the 2008 Paralympics in Beijing. For these reasons, the name ‘Team Eagle’ was chosen.
The site was built around the Symphony CMS. The project resulted in the creation of a couple extensions, including Flickr Fetch which I made available for download. I used Adobe Photoshop to create the website layout and Adobe Dreamweaver for coding any necessary PHP extensions and XSLT.
My limited experience in print design led me to outsource some of the print marketing material. However, I did design the business cards and used an online printer. I used Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Indesign for this work.
In addition to marketing and managing the team, I am also the skipper of Team Eagle.
